"Imagine If Black Boys Just Smiled At Each Other" is an All Mixed Up film in collaboration with Channel 4, winner of the Best Short Film Award at Boundless Film Festival 2023, featuring black men discussing their experiences of encountering other black men on the street – and the extreme, surreal polar reactions they receive, with an original soundtrack composed by Marcelo Cervone, the film is being showcased in Manchester on the 5th of April.


Soundtrack will be available for streaming on all platforms on the 5th of April. 


A film production company founded by Kenton Thomas and Jamie Swaby on a mission to weave together diverse production teams, bringing to life compelling stories from underrepresented communities.


Marcelo Cervone met Jamie Swaby on the set of series 2 of CBBC's Andy and the Band back in 2021. Marcelo went from starring alongside Sir Brian May as the interstellar rockstar, Rio, to composing the original soundtrack of "Imagine If Black Boys Just Smiled at Each Other". 


Jamie Swaby (All Mixed Up Productions), was directing a series of behind the scenes pieces on Andy and the Band. In between takes he and Marcelo spent hours talking and realised that they had a lot in common, including their passion for film and TV. After dissecting all the latest releases, Jamie mentioned that he might have a project for Marcelo to work on. 


A few months later, "Imagine If Black Boys Just Smiled at Each Other" was being shot, in collaboration with Channel 4 and Marcelo was being sent rough cuts to start composing an original soundtrack to. 


Fast forward to 2023 and the short film racked up a number of nominations and an award for best short film. It was the official selection at Manchester Film Festival (2024) and LA1 Shorts Film Festival (2023). finalist at Renaissance Film Festival (2023) and winner of the Best Short Film laurel at Boundless Film Festival (2023).


The original concert version soundtrack single is available on all platforms now.
